Samsung has released in South Korea a copy of the smartphone Galaxy J2 Pro introduced in early 2018, which does not support Wi-Fi and data transmission in cellular networks. This model is intended for school students and elderly users.
As reported in the online resource The Verge, every year high school students in South Korea pass a national entrance examination suneung, which determines their future life. This is not an exaggeration! Unlike the SAT test, which plays an insignificant role in entering college, the main idea of suneung, implanted in the heads of students, is that this is the determining factor of how successful they will be in this deeply hierarchical society. Therefore, it is logical to release the Samsung smartphone without access to the Internet in order not to distract students and allow them to focus on their studies.
With the Galaxy J2 Pro, you can call, send SMS messages and take pictures to the main camera with a resolution of 8 megapixels and a front resolution of 5 megapixels. In the smartphone there is also a calendar, a calculator, an FM radio and an offline English dictionary application.
The device is designed primarily for the elderly, who try not to use the Internet and other "complex" functions. Also, the smartphone is suitable for pupils of schools and students, so that they are not distracted while studying.
Galaxy J2 Pro costs $ 185 (315 AZN at the rate of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan in April 2018). Samsung conducts an action for buyers aged 18-21 years, who in 2019 and 2020 will have to pass Suneung - the state exam for admission to universities. After passing the exam, they will be free to exchange J2 Pro for smartphones of the Galaxy S or Note line.
The plans to sell J2 Pro outside of South Korea in Samsung do not say.
Specifications Galaxy J2 Pro:
• AMOLED display is five inches.
• 1.5 GB of RAM.
• Four-core processor 1.4 GHz.
• Slot for microSD cards.
The most intriguing part of the Galaxy J2 Pro is a promotional campaign aimed at students who will take the suneung exam in 2019 and 2020. The essence of the campaign is that those who passed this grueling test will be able to exchange this smartphone for Galaxy S, Note or a smartphone from the A series, issued after 2018 or to get the full cost of J2 Pro as compensation. There are no plans to sell this phone outside of South Korea, but, you will agree, the idea is interesting and possible other countries, in which exams are given great importance, will also be interested in such a project.
